The CEW service is in high demand and works intensely with families. Therefore, we typically work with you for around 12-18 months to make a series of healthy lifestyle changes.
We will discuss discharge with you at your appointments leading up to the final one to make sure that you and your family are ready to leave the service.
Occasionally, patients leave the CEW service before this time. That can be due to many different reasons and we can discuss that with you if needed.
At discharge we will make plans to ensure that any onward care for complications related to weight are put in place. We will write to your GP and make a summary of your time in the CEW service.
Following discharge, you might need further help with your weight management and lifestyle choices. We will tell you about the services in your area (sometimes these are called Tier 2 services)
